Who we are
Two Spoon Press is a small, disability-led publishing initiative committed to making space for usual experimental projects. We publish work that might be too risky, too hybrid, too "difficult," or too costly for traditional publishers — and we do it with care, curiosity, and flexibility.
This press was born out of both personal experience and community need. As a disabled writer with cPTSD, fibromyalgia, and postural hypotension, I know firsthand how challenging the publishing world can be for disabled artists.
I began running poetry workshops for disabled writers through WA Poets Inc, and what I learned there made this press inevitable. I saw the power of community and mutual support, but also the gaps — the many ways our industry asks disabled writers to "keep up" rather than meet them where they are. This press works differently.
Here, access isn't an afterthought. It's built into the process. Artists can declare their access needs up front. You might not be good keeping to a deadline—that’s okay, we’ll get rid of. Maybe you captioned zoom meetings, or you struggle to use track-changes to receive editing feedback. Every publishing pathway is tailored, negotiated, and continually adjusted. Flexibility isn't a bonus; it's the baseline.
We're here to publish extraordinary work — and to make sure the process of getting it into the world doesn’t require anyone to mask their pain, hide their access needs, or burn out in the name of legitimacy.
